Clearing: Barney's experience

After a change of mind about a gap year, Barney Bell joined our BA (Hons) Creative Writing course through Clearing in 2024.

"I couldn’t just sit around, find a small local job in a café or on the beach. I wanted to study. I wanted to learn, engage myself with academics, create art and enjoy the whole university experience. That’s where Clearing stepped in."

Applicants should make contact with the universities that they are interested in to secure an informal offer of a place before adding that institution as their clearing choice. More information can be found on the UCAS website.

Clearing is for anyone who's not holding an offer through their UCAS application. This may be because they haven’t yet applied, or they've applied but declined the offers that they've been given.

You’ll need to apply through UCAS, but please register your interest with Admissions.

Absolutely! We’d love to see you, and we have multiple options if you would like to come and visit our campus. Applicants who are made an offer through Clearing are given three working days to accept it. If you aren't in a position to accept the offer before the end of this deadline, due to extenuating circumstances, please contact us and we can extend this deadline for you.
